Here you go! CD REVIEWS!!!! From the world of hiphop and rock! WOOT!!!!
I finally grabbed some time to sit down, take a breath and relax and listen to some of the cd's in the piles I have been getting. First up, Flipcyide. He has two up for reviews. Here's how my reviewing works. I listen, I write what I thought about the cd. Then, I'll give it a score of 1 to 5.
1: At least the CD will make a good Frisbee or decoration in your car or on
your wall so its not a total waste of money.
2: You might like it but don't tell your friends, you might end up the
laughing stock of the group.
3: Worth listening to but not worth what you paid for it. Better off as a
"shower cd". Listen to it in the shower, no where else.
4: Bump it in your car, or at your house, but not too loud.
5: Make the world hear this, you must have in your collection, if you don't
you have something wrong with you.
Flipcyide:
"Last Man Standing"
This cd boasts a wonderful array of hiphop. The beats are titillating and
the words tell a story if you listen close enough. With or with out the
lyrics, each song has a beat that could turn heads and get people
bobbing their
heads. With a wide array of hiphop artists Flipcyide pulled Last Man Standing
together giving you the feeling that at the end, he was the last man
standing. Exist the Battle Cat pounces on his listeners
and gives a powerful message
about never giving up standing tall and prevailing. Nukleus has that voice
that makes you smile when he raps. Nukleus is on a roll! Nameless, another
local artist, delivers killer words and is definitely on his way. SubConsuz,
gives a heart felt and deep sultry tone with No More Lies. Touches
everyones heart that has ever felt heart ache. The Giantz teaming
up with Phunetik
and Nameless let everyone know the symptoms of hip-hopaholics with a party
jumping beat and lyrics. Lonzo, Lalow, Legion and P.I.L.L.S. all hand the
listeners the words that flow so easily with the beats that make the systems
bump-bump. The Dirtheadz bring it in with "We Rock Live"
such intriguing words
mixed with an equally intriguing beat make this song a definate must have
bumpin' in the cd player at the party or in the car. Arkatak of the
Giantz wraps
up the cd with "It Was All A Dream" with such intense words emanating from
his heart. In the end, Flipcyide is the last man standing. This CD
is a must
have, must bump, must not pass by. It gets a 5.
Flipcyide:
Slept On Vol.1 MixTape
Once more Flipcyide comes at you hard with intense beats and the tightest
hiphop artists on this album. Featuring many from his "Last Man Standing"
album, this cd gives you songs never heard before and many locals
were begging to
be on this mix tape. Tha Camp from California gives you some words to live
by in "Maintain Balance". Nukleus starts his track out with a bit of comedy,
but still gives his fierce voice to the listeners. Double-0 Clique hands a
sweet little jazzy number with Down 4 Whatever. Arkatak's sultry voice will
melt the female listeners and make the guys wish they were him in his song,
"Karma Electra". Freddie Flint, though my first time hearing him has me
wanting more, croons about the pursuit of dreams. Tha Camp gives a deep
emotional
track with "My Secret" and SubConsuz delivers his intense voice on
"Redemption". The mixtape boasts 18 tracks with a hidden track.
Each song is just as
good if not better then the rest. Flipcyide's beats will put you in a zone
and control your whole body, mind, and soul. The album gets a hard hitting 5.
Smoove J
da prescription
A hiphop artist from Seattle who has a voice that slices through the air so
swift and smooth its no wonder why he is called Smoove J. His beats have
that hard bass that make mirrors vibrate in the car and make walls
shake in the
house. Catchy beats, catchy lyrics, the words are definitely priceless as
are the beats. With tracks to party to, tracks to relax to, tracks to cruise
to and tracks to, well, you know. Tracks you should most def bump where ever
you are, Priceless, Madsciencemuzik, UKnowHowWeDo, Act a Nut, and Hold it
Down. Smoove J most definitely gets a 5 on this album.
Da prescription is most
def a great addition to any hiphop heads collect. Don't act a nut, snatch
this up. High 5 for Smoove J.
Tha Truth:
Biblical Context
A humble artist, Tha Truth declares that in the intro. The beats swing at
you from unknown places and his lyrics come from the heart. Featuring fellow
artists like Myth, Anadote, Lenroc, Kope, and Metafisix. Intense beats
flowing from the mind of Metafisix and deep words from Anadote.
Kope handing you
complicated lyrics with meanings that hit you deeply. The only thing I did
not care for on this album was the stylings of Myth. Sounding like he was out
of breath taking a deep breath after every 5-8 words. Aside from that, this
underground hiphop album deserves to be bumped. Biblical Context gets a hot 4.
Zyme One:
Gathering The Pieces
Featuring two of the hottest producers, DJ Metronix and Hexag0n, this album
gives people beats to run with, drive with, fly with and chill with. An
intricate beat done by Hexag0n on the track Tetris Blocks sets my mindset
to when
Gameboy first came out. Metafisix making yet another appearance on this
album with Zyme One in the track High School Drop Out. The vocals are lacking
as far as timing goes on some tracks and sometimes Zyme's vocals are not as
clear as they should be. The words are simple and easy to grasp. For a first
album its ok, but could be better. Gathering the Pieces gets a 3.
