VANCOUVER PUNK ROCK ŒN¹ ROLLERS, BLACK HALOS, HIT THE ROAD IN SUPPORT OF NEW ALBUM, ALIVE WITHOUT CONTROL, ON LIQUOR AND POKER MUSIC Old Scars and Upstarts Tour with Die Hunns and guests Sept. 2 Oct. 8
Los Angeles, CA Liquor and Poker Music announces extensive tour dates for The Black Halos¹ today. The band will tour the U.S. in support of their new album titled, Alive Without Control, which was released on June 28, 2005. Radio promotion and marketing are being handled in-house. The label is distributed through Caroline.
The Black Halos will hit the road in early September. They are ready to thrill fans with songs from their new album, Alive Without Control, as well as favorites from their repertoire. They will play all dates on the Old Scars and Upstarts Tour and plan for more tour dates and play dates through the end of the year and beyond.
The Old Scars and Upstarts Tour is presented by Juice Magazine in conjunction with skate and punk legend, Duane Peters. Other bands on the bill include Kings Of Nuthin, Riverboat Gamblers, The Needles and additional bands TBA in various markets. The skateboarding aspect of the event is being billed in tandem with the live music portion. The idea is to bring back an Œold school,¹ DIY sensibility to package tours. Hence Peters, Lance Mountain and a host of skate legends will drop in to skate with locals at many of the best skate parks in country. This will include sessioning backyard pools and private bowls along the way in addition to the skate park demos. Mini-festivals are planned for Chicago, New York, Austin and Los Angeles.
The Black Halos are seasoned road dogs. Their touring schedule behind their first two releases, self-titled debut on Die Young Stay Pretty (1999) and Violent Years on Sub Pop (2001), was virtually non-stop. The band has performed with die-hards like label mates The Hellacopters, Nebula and Backyard Babies, as well as stints on the Warped Tour and dates with AFI, All, Sum 41, Danzig, The Donnas, Andrew WK, The Damned, The Offspring, River City Rebels, Zeke, Supersuckers, Tool, Sevendust, Murder City Devils, etc.
Alive Without Control was produced by Jack Endino, whose credits include both of the previous Halos¹ albums and Nirvana's Bleach as wells as various EP's and albums for Soundgarden, Mudhoney and many other notable artists and bands.
What The Rocket once wrote about the band sums them up to this day: ³It¹s a sound where punk and glam are squeezed into the tight leather pants of New York City in the mid-Œ70s.²
The Black Halos are Billy Hopeless on vocals, Adam Becvare on guitars and vocals, Denyss McKnight on bass and vocals, Jay Millette on Guitar and Rob Zgaljic on drums. The thirteen tracks on Alive Without Control are 1. ³Three Sheets To The Wind,² 2. ³Last Call At The Toothless Saloon,² 3. ³Alive Without Control,² 4. ³Darkest Corners,² 5. ³Mirrorman,² 6. ³Studio Suffering,² 7. ³Third World USA,² 8. ³Tight,² 9. ³Broken,² 10. ³Exit Stagefright,² 11. ³Burning Trash,² 12. ³Unchanged² and 13. ³I Need To Know² (Tom Petty Cover).
