1996-2000 The Early Years
Founder Cecilia Bravo staged her first show in Vancouver in April of 1996. After six successful shows, many of which where sold out, Miss Bravo began a monthly Burlesque revue at The W.I.S.E Hall (formerly a church hall built in the 1930's) with a regular cast of 15-20 performers and support staff. These landmark shows continued to meet the growing demand for this lost art form and pioneered the rebirth of fully-staged neo burlesque shows in Canada.
2001 The Burlesque Society is formed and hits Teaseorama
Due to the continued success of the Fluffgirl shows and support from the public, The Fluffgirl Burlesque Society was formed in January of 2001.
In May of 2001, The Fluffgirl Burlesque Society was the only Canadian Burlesque company present at the First ever Teaseorama Burlesque Convention in New Orleans and the Fluffgirls established themselves as a reputable troupe within the North American Burlesque scene.
2002 Fluffgirl goes BIG and tours North America for the 1st time
After two years of consecutive monthly shows, it was time to move forward. In January of 2002, Cecilia Bravo co-produced a the Fluffgirl Burlesque Extravaganza with House of Blues Concerts Canada at Vancouver's finest venue, the Commodore Ballroom. The show featured Burlesque star and Playboy cover model, Dita Von Teese in her first ever Canadian appearance. The event sold out, drawing over 1200 people.
Due to the overwhelming success of the Commodore's premier Burlesque show, in May of 2002, Cecilia co-produced two shows in the same night, Jungle Exotica a tiki themed Fluffgirl Burlesque show guest starring The Pontani Sisters from New York in their first ever Canadian appearance.
In Fall/ Winter 2002, Fluffgirl Burlesque teamed up with FTA Booking to produce the first ever North American Neo-Burlesque Tour The Winter Follies. The tour attracted a large amount of National and local press which resulted in sold out or packed venues in over 13 cities across North America.
2003-2004 Fluffgirl relocates to Toronto and tours Europe for the 1st time
In 2003, the newly formed company relocated to Toronto, Canada and set a precedent in Burlesque entertainment with their stage shows and hard work, regularly touring Ontario and Québec every 6 weeks.
In 2004, Fluffgirl Burlesque set out on their second North American tour and first tour of the UK, Germany and Switzerland. The World Domination Tour which was well received and garnered press in local weekly entertainment publications, the BBC and Kerrang magazine.
2005 A new direction
In 2005, the Fluffgirl Burlesque Company continues to tour in their quest for world domination and will remain at the forefront of the Burlesque Industry as well as expand globally.
