When is it? All materials must be collected by no later than 01/18/2008 but can be sent in as early as 11/12/2007.

Are there any fees to enter? The only fee that you must pay for is the entry fee. For soloists a fee of $35 will be required. If you enter as a band (more than one person), a fee of $50 will be required, these payments are not refundable.
How does it work? The talent contest will be divided in two categories.
Hip Hop and singers/bands (All other genres) Judges will choose ten finalists from all entries in each category. These ten finalists will perform live for Vybe Recordz and the judges will choose the top three winners for each category. That's right two 1st prize winners will record for free, two 2nd prize winners will record for free and two 3rd prize winners will record for half the price! For Hip Hop the ten finalists, will battle in a 30 sec ( 2 round) freestyle to help the judges partly determine the top three winners. Vybe Recordz will provide the beat.
What are the prizes? RECORD FOR FREE!
F I R S T P R I Z E -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- *Would prefer songs to be recorded to be originals but if not, then the artist/s would be responsible for purchasing and obtaining the appropriate Mechanical Licenses.
First Prize: Will record a full length CD (ten songs) or 100 hours of recording time whichever comes first at no cost to artist! (The normal cost for this would be between $4,500 to $6,500.00 but for free, what a deal!) Song length approx 4:00 min long each. Will have a maximum of 1 year in which to complete project. If not completed within one year and the artist/s would like to continue, then the artist will be billed our regular hourly rates. If the artist/s wishes not to continue, Vybe Recordz will have the right to keep or discard any content remaining.
Once completed, the winner will pay Disc Makers through Vybe Recordz to get the CDs Mastered and duplicated and to arrive at Vybe Recordz. If the artists are to do all the music for the project then they will keep 70% of the CD sales and Vybe Recordz 30% of which there will be a separate contract agreeing to this. Basically, the artist will be buying the CDs from Vybe Recordz for a very reasonable price as illustrated by our chart. Then they the artist will have the liberty to re-sell their CD to their audience or fans at whatever cost they want and keep all the monies for themselves thereafter!
However, if Vybe Recordz is to help with the lyrics or music (Co-writing) (performing/arranging) and once the CD is done the winner will pay Disc Makers through Vybe Recordz to get the CDs Mastered and duplicated to arrive at Vybe Recordz. Then Vybe Recordz and the artist will both receive 50% of each CD. Vybe Recordz and the artist will both own and pay for half the copyright cost each on which separate contracts will need to be signed.
Finally, if Vybe Recordz is to compose both the lyrics and music for you and once the CD is done the winner will again pay Disc Makers to get the CDs Mastered and duplicated to arrive at Vybe Recordz. Then in this case, Vybe Recordz will be paid 70% and the artist 30% for each CD. Vybe Recordz will pay and own 100% of the copyrights on which separate contracts will need to be signed.
Again, once the artist pays Vybe Recordz their percentage the artist will have the liberty to sell their CDs to their audience or fans at whatever price they want and keep all the monies for themselves thereafter.

Second Prize: Winner/s will record a four song demo or 32 hours of recording time whichever comes first for free, if no Vybe Recordz assistance is needed. If needed, the artist will only be responsible for 1/2 our normal hourly rate! Winner/s will have a maximum of six months in which to complete project. If project exceeds its "Prize Time" and the artist/s would like to continue, then the artist will be billed our regular hourly rates. If the artist/s wishes not to continue, Vybe Recordz will have the right to keep or discard any content remaining. Once completed, winners will be given a Final Mixed copy of the finished product to keep.
However, if Vybe Recordz is to help with the lyrics or music (Co-writing) (performing/arranging) Vybe Recordz will be paid $27.50 per hour (regular price for this service is $55.00 per hour) to obtain such services and Vybe Recordz and the artist will both own and pay for half the copyright cost each, on which separate contracts will need to be signed.
If Vybe Recordz is to compose both the lyrics and music for you Vybe Recordz will be paid $32.50 per hour (regular price for this service is $65.00 per hour) to obtain such services and Vybe Recordz will own and pay for full ownership of copyrights on which separate contracts will need to be signed.

Third Prize: Will record a song for half price at $22.50 per hour (regular price for this is $45.00 per hour) or nine hours of recording time in which to record whichever comes first, will have three months in which to complete song. Once completed, winners will be given a Final Mixed copy of the finished product to keep and Vybe Recordz will have the right to keep or discard any content remaining.
However, if Vybe Recordz is to help with the lyrics or music (Co-writing) (performing/arranging) Vybe Recordz will be paid $27.50 per hour (regular price for this service is $55.00 per hour) to obtain such services and Vybe Recordz and the artist will both own and pay for half the copyright cost each, on which separate contracts will need to be signed.
