Oasis Lanes/Frankie's
Captain Boom played Thursday and Friday at Oasis Lanes/Frankie's Bar and Grill. I saw them on Friday night. They are a four-piece band, featuring guitar, bass, keys, and drums, with the guitar player handling the vocals. I ran into Ruben, of Dr. Groove, as he was leaving.
The songs played included Satisfaction, Kiss' Rock and roll All Night, and Santana's Oye como va.
The band's humor is interesting, the vocals and drums are decent, and the guitar lead was excellent. The bass was muddied. Due to the poor sound, I couldn't hear the keyboards at all.
Their big problem is the sound, which was even messed up when the bass player spoke through the microphone in between songs.
It is a little hard to imagine how good they would be with a good sound man, but I am guessing they would be a very good band. Hopefully, I'll find out the next time I see them.
