For the first ten minutes I saw Hettory, a jazz fusion band, I thought they were kind of boring, but then I first saw Hector Otto cut loose on the guitar. He is a very impressive guitar player, with a fine sense of showmanship.
He uses a synthesizer quite a bit, and several guitars hooked up into different kinds of inputs. One of his favorite tricks is to tap a mounted guitar with a jazz piano sound. He switches back and forth between this one and the one he is wearing. He does a lot of tapping, plays slide with a bottle of beer, etc.
I kind of think he over-does the effects, but they are still impressive, at least the first time that I am seeing him. He plays vibrato with any finger, which is also impressive, but doesn't play "in-place" vibrato, meaning he can't do it when he only has a fraction of a second free.
Still, the guy is a very, very impressive guitar player.
